Feeling grateful today for friendships that evolve over time. @smiletals and I met in maybe 2011, when our now husbands were then boyfriends and coworkers. We quickly became run, yoga, and wine buddies. There was a time when we lived in the same condo building and a time when we were both on projects at the same client. It was totally normal for us to see each other multiple times per week. Then her corporate career flourished and started taking her around the globe, while I stepped away from that world and became engrossed in motherhood and Beautycounter. We’re lucky if we see each other once a quarter these days. But when we do, nothing has changed. We jump straight to the important stuff, like being business sounding boards for each other and talking through life changes. As a super bonus, yesterday she baked with my kids (the worst) while I packaged up client gifts, then she read to them while I cleaned up the house so I didn’t have to do it after bedtime. Our lives really couldn’t look more different right now, but she’s one of those people that is a friend for life and for that I’m grateful.
