Today, I started reading #1984 by G. Orwell again. It’s more actual and relevant than ever.
Technology is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. But not because something could, it should.
These days, our #privacy is at stake. Governments & big tech companies enter our personal environment. They demand our fingerprints, track our online behavior, are even eavesdropping our conversations or tracking our movements on the road.
We should push back. The only ingredient missing for a dystopian world are malicious minds behind the knobs. And history, even the present, have already shown us that such scenarios are not simply doom thinking.
Let’s protect our freedom. Let’s push back.
“Federal agencies use large complex network and data systems to maintain and manage varying types of data and information, including [high-value assets] that hold sensitive information critical to national and economic security,” officials from GSA’s Office of Information Technology Category said in a Wednesday post on the agency’s Interact page. “As a result, GSA ITC is proposing to restructure the HACS SINs, 132-45 (A-D), into a single HACS SIN, 132-45, with sub-categories of cybersecurity services.”
The combined contract will continue to provide the original HACS services, plus high value asset (HVA) assessment services. Those HVA assessment services will include offerings like network mapping, vulnerability scanning, phishing assessment, wireless assessment, web application assessment, operating system security assessment (OSSA), database assessment, penetration testing, security architecture review and systems security engineering.

Camouflaged in the Backyard:
My Recluse Winter Wonderland
After moving in with Johnny, when I went out to smoke at night, every night, for the first few months... I would lock the door to the sunroom, put a BB gun behind my chair, and keep a big rock and piece of firewood on the table in front of me,
in case anyone, or any specific Someone... happened to come after me.
Once or twice or 5 times I even imagined aliens coming for me out of that wilderness, even if That wasn’t what I was Really Afraid of.
I would sit there with the lights off, chainsmoking my cigarettes & pot... peering out into those ominous trees, looking for the glint of eyes.. or listening for the crack of branches.. coming from that forest that seemed so strange those new nights in my new home... even if those dark & dreadful trees were technically ‘part’ of it.
I seriously doubted aliens, or any other Specific thing I was afraid of.. cared about trespassing laws at that point.
Now, it is nearing a year later, & I can tell I have come a long way, because I’m no longer afraid of this place... & the fact that I can go on a Snow Hike with my dog family, & not have to worry about running into anyone..
Is a dream that was
too big for me
to ever dare to dream.. coming true.
I even quit smoking cigarettes.
