For the past 2 nights, we were lucky enough to discover with you, high quality wines from one of the most interesting wine regions of the world.
Ribera del duero wines, from a great wine maker Alejandro Fernandez @grupopesquera.
The wines were exceptional, and always very balanced in reference to the value-for-money criteria.

Nestled in the Andes Mountains, this amazing New World Syrah is born at 1950 meters of altitude: Alto Los Toros. The great winemaker Marcelo Retamal of De Martino visits year by year wine regions around the world that inspire him the most. This time, it brought the Rhone's motivation to conceive this phenomenal Chilean wine. Retamal discovered in Elqui Valley, the highest point in the country, a perfect micro climate to achieve the desired result. Alto Los Toros is a specific tiny vineyard of 3.98ha with high altitude, granite soils and a steep slope - just as in the Rhône. The the vineyard is in “parrón elquino” which aims to protect the grapes from intense sunlight with its canopy. And in the cellar, the philosophy is of minimal intervention: only wild yeasts, long ageing of 24 months in old foudres. What a gorgeous Syrah! .
It’s feeling pretty autumnal out there today, and we’re dreaming of tomorrow’s Sunday roast already! What better than a roast chicken stuffed with tarragon and lemon, paired with a classic Bourgogne oaked Chardonnay…
Whilst better known for its Rully and Mercurey Premiers Crus wines, this 200 year-old domaine also produces modern, approachable and affordable wines, such as this Domaine Gouffier "Roche de Malpertuis" Côte Chalonnaise 2015.
Sitting in the village of Fontaines, between Rully and Mercurey in Burgundy, the domain has been run by the Gouffier family for generations until Jerome Gouffier handed over the reins to youngsters Frédéric Gueugneau and Benoît Pagot, who have brought a more modern style style of winemaking to the business.
Frédéric has also converted the vineyards to organic farming practices with hand harvesting since taking over in 2011.
Put your nose into a glass and this mighty fine white gives you rich, honeysuckle and butterscotch aromas. On the palate you’ll find lemon peel, passion fruit and mango combined with fennely notes and a long, toasty oak finish. A touch of minerality keeps this wine fresh and lithe.
This wine is just sublime drunk with roast chicken: stuff with tarragon butter under the skin and pop two halves of lemon into the cavity before roasting.
Alternatively, pair with Dover sole meunière, a classic nut roast or a fennel, cream and Parmesan gratin – anything creamy, buttery or nutty will work wonders with this wine!
Oh HEY Saturday 🙋🏼
We have missed you! There are two types of Saturday people:
• The party one who will be consuming said wine in picture
• Snuggled in bed one... who may also be prone to a glass of wine
Moral of the story... wine always 😂🙌🏼
Who's staying in and who's going out tonight then? 🎉
