  • We were recently invited to #Bordeaux by our friend Valeer at @ourdailybottle. Bordeaux is not known for its natural wines, despite its great terroir, so we were excited to learn about how the region had been evolving. We visited our own #sanssouffre Vigneron #chateaumeylet in Saint Emilion to taste the new vintage, and listened intently as David told us about his increasing use of Amphorae (despite abysmal harvests). At #chateaucoutet we learned about how their natural farming methods have been maintained for over 400 years without interruption (talk about happy vines!), and had a chance to taste the excellent biodynamic wines of Chateau #peybonhomme made in cement and amphorae. We were privileged to visit #pontetcanet, the only fully biodynamic classified Chateau, and found that they too were using a lot more Amphorae and less new wood in their winemaking. Even at #lafiterothschild around the corner did we discover the start of biodynamic farming and less acceptance of taste influence of the vessel on the wine. It seems the natural wine movement is leaving its mark on even the most stubborn of winemaking regions! Much to look forward to...
